Terms of Use for Billig

Welcome to Billig ("the App," "we," "our," or "us"). By downloading or using this App you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Overview
Billig is a receipt scanner and personal spending tracker. You can scan or upload receipts, organize
purchases, and use AI-powered features to extract data and surface spending insights. These Terms
govern your use of the App and the backend services at api.getbillig.com.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the equivalent local age of digital consent) to use the App. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction (typically 18), you represent that you have a parent's or guardian's consent.
3. Account and Access
You may use the App as a guest or by creating an account.
- Authentication is passwordless. You sign in via a one-time email magic link, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In. There are no passwords to remember or store.
- You are responsible for maintaining access to the email address or social account you use to sign in. Do not share your sign-in link or device with people you don't trust.
- For security, your session expires after a period of inactivity (currently up to 90 days), after which you will be asked to sign in again.
Guest data. Receipts you scan as a guest are stored locally and on our servers under an anonymous identifier. When you create an account, your guest receipts are merged into the new account. Guest data that is never claimed through an account may be permanently lost and cannot be recovered if you uninstall the App or lose access to the device.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or misuse the App.
4. User Content
You may upload receipts, images, and text ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content but grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store and process your User Content to provide the App's core functionality and to process User Content through AI providers (see Section 5).
We do not sell your personal data.
Data export. You may request a copy of your data at any time via Settings → Privacy → Export my data. The export is provided in JSON. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
5. AI-Generated Features
Some features rely on AI services. Google Gemini is currently the primary AI provider used for receipt extraction and the chat assistant. Alternative providers (OpenAI, Mistral AI) may be enabled as fallbacks; if and when they are, the Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect that.
- By using these features you consent to your submitted content being processed by third-party AI providers.
- AI outputs are generated automatically and may contain inaccuracies.
- We are not liable for actions taken in reliance on AI responses.
Chat prerequisites. The AI chat assistant requires at least 3 receipts in your account to provide useful answers, and is subject to per-tier daily limits (see Section 8).
6. Not Financial Advice
Billig is a receipt management tool only.
- The App does not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.
- AI-generated insights, spending analyses, or suggestions are for informational purposes only.
- You should not rely on any App output as a substitute for professional advice.
- Always consult a qualified financial professional before making financial decisions.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Upload or share content that is unlawful, offensive, or infringes on others' rights.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, modify, or redistribute the App's code.
- Interfere with App servers, APIs, or the underlying Cloudflare infrastructure.
- Use the App's outputs to train external AI models or scrape data without our written authorization.
- Use the App to upload images or content you do not own or have the right to upload.
- Attempt to bypass authentication or rate limits.
We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.
8. Usage Limits
To keep the service available and costs sustainable, certain features are rate-limited per account:

Limits may differ for premium or admin accounts. Hitting a limit returns a clear error in-app; the limit window is rolling and resets automatically.
9. Subscriptions and Payments
The App is currently free to use. There is no in-app purchase implementation.
If paid features are introduced in the future, pricing and payment terms will be clearly disclosed in-app, billing will be handled exclusively through Apple's in-app purchase system (iOS) or Google Play Billing (Android) in accordance with App Store policy, and refunds will follow the relevant store's standard process.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for violation of these Terms or misuse of the App. You may stop using the App at any time and delete your account via Settings → Privacy → Delete account & data. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.
11. Intellectual Property
All rights to the App's design, code, branding, and trademarks belong to Billig and its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or use our content except as permitted under these Terms.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App and all its features are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, completeness, or accuracy of AI responses.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Billig and its operators are not liable for: loss of data, revenue, or business; errors or inaccuracies from AI outputs; or unauthorized access to or alteration of your data, except where caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct. Some jurisdictions do not allow such exclusions, so they may not apply to you. Where required by law (e.g. consumer protection in the EU), our liability is the higher of the legally mandated minimum or €50.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer protection rights of your country of residence are not affected.
15. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted in the App and at getbillig.com/terms. Material changes will be highlighted. Continued use after updates take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
